Oasis Community Network supported PLWDs in Tana River County by distribution of wheelchairs and other assistive Devices. This initiative took place on 25th and 26th July 2023 in at our Centre in Subo Village.

This mission was inspired by the difficulties we witnessed PLWDs encounter on a daily basis while carrying on with their lives. In particular, we were inspired by one 14-year-old boy Mohamud Awadh who all his life walks on his limbs and is usually assisted by his siblings to go to school everyday on a wheelbarrow. Mohamud is a grade four pupil in Subo primary school and according to his teachers, he has a promising future. We wanted to make Mohamud’s life easier especially his going and coming from school. This gave birth to the idea of the wheelchair mission but now not just for Mohamud but for all others with similar conditions.

In total, twenty-five wheelchairs were issued to the people majority of whom were children. Other assistive Devices were also issued according to the severity of the patient’s condition.
